Did You See That? by CPA Mom

About

Me, Me, Me…It’s All About Me

Hello there - my name is Angela, otherwise known as CPA Mom; thanks for stopping by. I am a certified public accountant, 40 years old, living in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the good old U.S.A. I am a true Southern Belle married to a "Damn Yankee," know around here as “Honey Pot” (or HP). HP is my third husband. I divorced my first (for some very good reasons) and my second died when I was 28 years old. I have two degrees: a B.S. in accounting and an M.B.A. I have been in public practice for about 5 years now (after 10 years in the private sector).  I have my CPA license and am in the process of studying for a Certified Fraud Examiner's license (CFE).

Others in my “life ledger” include Small Fry, my 9 year old son and Tator Tot, my 7 year old daughter. They are as different as night and day. Small Fry has many food and environmental allergies. Between the four of us, I think HP and I should just hand over our paychecks to the various doctors. I have three sisters - one older and two younger. I had a dad, until he decided to disown me for reasons of his own (that I have yet to discern), and a mom whom I adore that lives here too. I started blogging (reading and writing) after discovering my eviscerated self on my older sister’s blog. We are slowly healing our relationship.

Past personal blogs have included "The Life and Times of a Working Mom" and "Virginia Mom on a Wire" (both now closed) and my other (not so current) blog is a weight loss one "Because We're Worth It." This is my review blog.

I love scrapbooking – at least I think I still do since the last time I had the chance was when I was pregnant with my son. I do have an amazing supply of scrapbook materials though. I enjoy reading a variety of authors (J.K. Rowling, Sue Grafton, Jennifer Weiner, Elizabeth Berg, Jodi Picoult, Diane Mott Davidson, Janet Evanovich, Diana Gabaldon, Michael Kahn, Camille Minichino and Ayelet Waldman) when I have a chance – which usually means in the bathroom or at a stop light. You moms know what I mean. I love discovering new writers through book reviews on this blog. Young Adult Fiction is my favorite these days.

Favorite quotes:

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Our family sports teams are N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. JETS, and the N.J. Devils.  Told you my husband was a Damn Yankee.

I don’t have much time to watch T.V. anymore but when I do, I love to watch Deadliest Catch, Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. I love all the shows on DIY network and the Food Network too. My favorite movies of all time are To Kill a Mockingbird, Gone with the Wind, Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Lord of the Rings (all three), the Twilight movies and of course, the Harry Potter movies. I love-cubed (I wish I knew how to copyright that term) all things Starbucks. And the cartoon Baby Blues. I idolize Jill Conner Browne, the Sweet Potato Queen and Paula Deen, the Queen of Butter.

Come on in and stay a while. I’ll make coffee and we can talk about cool books, movies and products, whatever is on your mind!
